12-Year-Old Boy Brutally Assaulted Over Alleged ¢200 Theft in New Ankasa; Jomoro MP and Victim’s Uncle Demand Justice

__Suspects captured assaulting 12-year-old boy over alleged ¢200 theft in New Ankasa, Elubo.

In a deeply troubling incident that has sparked national outrage, a 12-year-old boy from New Ankasa, near Elubo in Ghana’s Western Region, was subjected to severe physical abuse over an alleged theft of ¢200.

The boy’s uncle, Mr. Richard Paul, revealed during an interview on Onua TV’s “Maakye” program with host Captain Smart that the boy is his nephew, the son of his late sister. According to Mr. Paul, the incident occurred on Thursday, June 20, 2025, but he only became aware of it after the video went viral.

He clarified that the amount in question was ¢20, not ¢200.

“He said the victim was at the store and mentioned that he hadn’t eaten all day, so he took ¢20, used ¢5 to buy food, and returned the remaining ¢15,”  Mr. Paul stated.

Captain Smart highlighted the severity of the abuse, noting that the boy was tied with nylon ropes and hung from a building, which could potentially cause permanent damage to his reproductive organs. “Scientifically, such an act can lead to the loss of manhood,” he emphasized.

The Ghana Police Service has since arrested two suspects, Issah Morro (58) and Suleman Abdul Rashid (27), who were identified in the viral video. They are currently in custody at the Half Assini Division, assisting with ongoing investigations.
