According to revelations made during the August 7 edition of TV3’s “New Day,” a close associate of the late former parliamentary candidate, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, disclosed that Minister Mubarak was initially scheduled to join the official delegation on the ill-fated flight. However, an urgent meeting convened by Finance Minister Hon. Ato Forson, which required the presence of both Minister Mubarak and certain military officials, necessitated a change in plans.

To fill the vacancy left by Minister Mubarak’s absence, Hon. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, was added to the passenger list. Tragically, Minister Mohammed was among those who perished in the crash.

The Ghana Armed Forces confirmed that the Z-9 military helicopter departed from Accra en route to Obuasi for official duties when it lost contact and subsequently crashed. Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the crash.
