After a hiatus, Mahama returned to the presidency, being sworn in on January 7, 2025, following a decisive victory in the December 2024 elections. However, within eight months of his second term, the nation was struck by a devastating military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, claiming the lives of eight esteemed individuals, including Defense Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed. They were en route to Obuasi to address issues related to illegal mining when the tragedy occurred.
This incident stands as one of the most significant losses of high-ranking officials in Ghana’s recent history.
In these trying times, the Ghanaian populace stands in solidarity with President Mahama, offering heartfelt condolences and unwavering support as the nation mourns the loss of its dedicated public servants.
