On July 3, 2025, the Accra Circuit Court sentenced Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, to 15 years in prison with hard labor. The conviction stemmed from charges of defrauding by false pretence and charlatanic advertisement, related to a 2022 incident where she allegedly promised to double money for congregants during a televised church service.
Despite the sentencing, recent reports have raised questions about her current incarceration status. Ibrahim Kwarteng, CEO of the Crime Check Foundation, expressed concerns over Nana Agradaa’s absence from Nsawam Prison, where she was expected to serve her sentence.
He stated, “Our dear sister Nana Agradaa was sentenced on July 3 and was supposed to start serving her term immediately. But based on my recent checks, she is not in the prison facility. So where is she?”
In addition to her existing sentence, Nana Agradaa faces new legal challenges. The High Court in Accra has ordered prison authorities to produce her in court on July 30, 2025, to open her defense in a separate case involving the alleged non-consensual sharing of intimate images. This case pertains to a 2024 broadcast on her program “Yi Wasum,” where she and three others are accused of unlawfully distributing nude images of Prophet Emmanuel Appiah Fomum.
Her legal team has filed an appeal against the 15-year sentence, arguing that the judgment was unjust and that she was denied a fair trial. They contend that the sentence is excessively harsh and that the trial judge demonstrated bias.
As the appeal process unfolds and new charges emerge, the public remains attentive to the developments surrounding Nana Agradaa’s legal battles and her current custodial status.
