Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, widely known as the “Sleeping Prince “ has passed away at the age of 36 after spending nearly 20 years in a coma. The Royal Court announced his death on Saturday, July 19, 2025, through the Saudi Press Agency.

In 2005, at the age of 15, Prince Al-Waleed suffered a severe brain injury and internal bleeding following a car accident in London while studying at a military college. Since then, he remained in a coma and was treated at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh.

His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, chose to keep him on life support, frequently sharing updates and videos of family members praying and being with Al-Waleed. Despite never regaining full consciousness, the prince showed occasional minor movements, which brought hope to many followers.
Prince Khaled announced his son’s death on social media, expressing profound sadness and faith in Allah’s will. Funeral prayers for Prince Al-Waleed were scheduled for Sunday, July 20, after the Asr prayer at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh.
He wrote;
“O tranquil soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing. Enter among My servants, and enter My Paradise.”
With hearts full of faith in Allah’s decree and profound sorrow, we mourn our beloved son, Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may Allah have mercy on him, who passed away today “.

The funeral prayer for the deceased will be held tomorrow, Sunday, 25/1/1447 AH, corresponding to 20/7/2025: the Sleeping Prince’s father cited this on Saturday July 19,2025 on his official X account.
